Blog Post #1
Hey there, and welcome to Poly (culture) Pocket's very first blog post!
We're so excited to document our journey throughout our time in class. To kick things off let's introduce the folks behind the garden and shed some light about what we're aiming to achieve with this project. Our team consists of five passionate and curious people: Daniel Ohana, Florence Laurent, Kensley Greene, Kyle Evans, Philip Shaske, and Naomi Shi.
Even though we were grouped together by chance, we quickly bonded over our shared goals for this semester. Allow us to introduce you to our three main objectives!
- Observe the differences in growth rates between two cultivars of corn.
- Experiment with the 'Three Sisters' method of growing crops to determine if we could use it successfully.
- Determine how different crop covers affect the growth of crops. (hay vs mulch vs compost vs no cover)
And here's our final list of crops! This list may be updated as the semester continues so check back for future changes!
- Corn (Indian and King White)
- Bunching onion
- Pumpkin
- Tomato
- Bell peppers
- Pole beans
Thanks for catching up with us, and stay tuned for more updates!
