Thanksgiving post (not an update)
Welcome back Poly (culture) Pocket fans!
On this edition of the blog, we wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday break with some Thanksgiving recipes you can make from crops we have grown here at the Poly (culture) Pocket garden!
The main recipes we’re highlighting come from the folks over at Bon Appétit and Native-owned Ramona Farms! As we utilize the traditional Three Sisters method of cultivation in our own plot we wanted to remind ourselves of and honor the Indigenous peoples who have shared this agricultural and botanical knowledge to begin with.
This article explains the step-by-step process of making poshol and fry bread tacos, both of which sound absolutely delicious, and highlights the versatile and fulfilling nature of the Three sisters: Corn, beans, and squash.

As we enjoy our holiday, let’s also take a moment to reflect on the history of Thanksgiving. We encourage those who celebrate to support local Indigenous tribes and communities, including the Potano, Alachua, and Timucua, who are native to the Gainesville area.
Be well and see you after the break!
